Responsive, flexible classroom

Having a flexible classroom is important because not everything goes to plan. Teaching is hard because sometimes lessons do not go to plan and things happen in students' lives. As a teacher, you need to adapt to changes and take things in stride; not everything is going to go to plan and teachers need to think on their feet. When I have had teachers that have a very strict schedule and it's always about sticking to the schedule with work, those classes are extremely stressful. We always tended to get behind and the teacher blamed us for everything that went wrong.
Another reason why flexible classroom is important is because students are, "fueled by different interests and dreams, and approaching learning in distinctly different ways" (Leading for Differentiation, 5). This means that having just one way of teaching and going about education is only going to reach so many kids. A classroom that reaches the majority of students is going to be the most effective. Flexibility also ensures a way, "to better meet the needs of their students" (Flipped Classroom, 5). By having the ability to let students process things differently and as needed, you can ensure success. As a teacher this means that sometimes you have to let the students guide you where you need to teach. Let their understanding or lack of, help you better educate them.
